GUWAHATI, Oct 8: In a remarkable achievement for Assam, Raghabendra Narayan Dutta Baruah, a prominent printer, has been elected unopposed as the president of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), the Apex body of printers organisations in India and the world’s largest printing association.
The election took place during the 262nd Governing Council and 70th Annual General Meeting, held on September 29 and 30 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
It should be noted that this honorary position is rotated among four zones: East, North, West, and South.
This time it was the turn of the East Zone, with all other associations in the East deciding to not oppose Dutta Baruah’s candidature.
Earlier also two other prominent printing press entrepreneurs from Assam received this honour, Late Ramendra Narayan Dutta Baruah and Dibyajyoti Kalita, currently President of the All Assam Press Owners Association.
Dutta Baruah is now shouldering the task of leading this established organization at the national level. He has been Vice President East in 2018-19, Joint Secretary in 2019-20 and Honorary General Secretary in 2022-23 and currently is the Treasurer of the All Assam Press Owners Association.
His leadership and vision will play an important role in shaping the future of the printing industry in India particularly after the contraction of the COVID-19 period.
