Filmfare successfully hosts the first ever Filmfare Awards Assamese

‘Honouring Assamese movies released between January 1 to December 31

GUWAHATI, March 11: Filmfare, the unparalleled media institution in the Indian film industry, recently etched a momentous chapter in its illustrious legacy – the inaugural edition of Filmfare Awards Assamese with Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Memorial Public Charitable Trust.

The grand celebration unfolded at the prestigious Taj Vivanta in Guwahati on March 10, 2024, which ended up being an unforgettable evening for Assamese cinema. Enthralling hosts Kopil Bora and Aimee Baruah infused the event with their contagious spirit and entertained audiences with their undeniable charisma. The awards ceremony featured captivating performances by some of the biggest names in Assamese cinema, including Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami, Preety Kongana, Urmila Mahanta, Priyam Pallabee, Ranjit Gogoi, Gayatri Hazarika and Dikshu Sarma.

The awards night radiated with the artistic brilliance, as artists graced to celebrate Assamese cinema and be acknowledged for their exceptional contributions.

Audiences were extremely excited to hear ‘Tora’s Husband’ winning the Best Film category. Similarly, there were many cheers and applause when Abhijit Das won the award under the category of Best Actor in a leading Role (Male) for his extraordinary performance. Aimee Baruah received the award under the category of Actor in a Leading Role (Female).

The red carpet was graced by popular personalities of Assamese Cinema. These include Urmila Mahanta, Kingkini Bhattacharyya, Preety Kongana, Jatin Bora, Nishita Goswami, Rinki Bhuyan Sarma, amongst others.

  • BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY : Pradip Daimary (Raghav)
  • BEST EDITING : Pratim Khaund (Dr. Bezbaruah 2)
  • BEST PRODUCTION DESIGN : Jyoti Sangkar Bhattacharya, Dr. Akshata Narain (Dr. Bezbaruah 2)
  • BEST LYRICS : Udhab Neog (Mur Mon Ja Ghumati By – Eti Nakhyatra), Pankaj Mazumdar (Rode Daha Khandhaya Tora – Eti Nakhyatra)
