Guwahati, April 8: In a significant operation against drug trafficking in Guwahati, Basistha Police seized 31 containers of heroin on Monday. The total weight of the confiscated drugs was around 40 grams, as revealed by officials.
The operation, centered in Khanapara, led to the arrest of a drug trafficker named Ashok Saha. Two mobile phones were also seized during the operation, providing additional leads for the investigation.
In a previous incident last month, Assam Police’s special task force apprehended two habitual drug peddlers, including a woman, and confiscated a substantial amount of heroin from their possession in Guwahati.
Acting on specific intelligence, an STF team conducted a raid at the Khanapara bus stand, resulting in the seizure of 61 grams of heroin. The police also recovered 47 vials of heroin, 10 empty plastic containers, a mobile phone, and Rs 2,060 in cash from the apprehended peddlers.
