Baghdad, Jan 3: On Wednesday, two successive bombings in Iran resulted in the death of at least 103 people during a gathering to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the late General Qasem Soleimani’s killing.
The tragic incident, reported by state media, occurred near the Saheb al-Zaman Mosque in Kerman, Soleimani’s hometown and burial place. The bombings, labeled as a ‘terrorist attack’ by state television, injured at least 170 people.

The tension in the Middle East escalated following the killing of Saleh al-Aruri, the second in command of Hamas and an ally of Iran, in a Beirut drone strike allegedly by Israel. According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the bombs, contained in two bags, were detonated remotely.
The Kerman Mayor, Saeed Tabrizi, stated that the bombs exploded with a gap of 10 minutes. The area was cordoned off by security personnel as ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the site.
