New Delhi, May 9: air india
Earlier, the Tata Group-owned airline had announced the termination of 30 cabin crew members’ services who had taken mass sick leave without prior notice, resulting in over 100 flight cancellations since Tuesday night.
The airline had also issued a final warning to the remaining sick crew members to return to duty by 4 pm on Thursday or face termination. This mass sick leave led to several flight delays and cancellations, stranding passengers at airports. The airline has since released a revised flight schedule and urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
Air India Express also announced that it would accommodate affected passengers on alternative flights, including those of group airlines. On Thursday, the airline cancelled 85 flights, affecting nearly 20% of its daily flights due to a cabin crew shortage. However, the airline will operate 283 flights on Thursday with support from Air India on 20 routes.
