Gurugram, July 12: A night of heavy drinking turned into a nightmare for Amit Prakash, a 30-year-old resident of Gurugram, as he fell victim to a robbery and lost his car along with other valuable possessions.
Prakash’s unfortunate ordeal began after a drinking session in his own vehicle, during which he was unable to recognize his car due to his intoxicated state. The incident came to light when Prakash reported the theft to the police the following morning.
The chain of events unfolded when Prakash, already under the influence of alcohol, made the decision to purchase more alcohol and consume it in the comfort of his car. He visited a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) kiosk located at the Lakeforest Wine Shop on Golf Course Road, where he purchased a bottle of wine.
Recounting the incident, Prakash stated, “In an intoxicated condition, I paid Rs. 20,000 for one wine bottle that had Rs. 2,000 as its MRP. The shop owner, however returned Rs. 18,000 in cash.”
Upon returning to his vehicle, Prakash resumed his drinking session. It was at this point that an unknown individual approached him and asked if he could join in for a few drinks. Obliging without hesitation, Prakash welcomed the stranger into his car and offered him a drink.
The duo then proceeded to drive the car towards Subhash Chowk. It was during this drive that the unexpected took place. Upon reaching their destination, the stranger instructed Prakash to exit the vehicle. Completely unaware that the car belonged to him, Prakash complied and left his own car in the possession of the stranger.
Afterwards, Prakash hailed an auto-rickshaw and made his way to the Huda City Centre metro station before returning home. It wasn’t until the following morning that he realized the gravity of his actions while sober.
In addition to losing his car, Prakash discovered that his laptop, Rs 18,000 in cash, and his mobile phone had also been stolen during the incident.
Deeply regretting his intoxicated state and the unfortunate sequence of events, Prakash promptly lodged a complaint with the local authorities, hoping for assistance in recovering his stolen belongings.
The Gurugram police have initiated an investigation into the incident, examining CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses in an attempt to identify the perpetrator and retrieve the stolen items.
The incident serves as a cautionary tale, highlighting the potential dangers of excessive alcohol consumption and impaired judgment.
Authorities are urging individuals to exercise caution and responsibility while consuming alcohol, particularly when it comes to making important decisions that could compromise their safety and possessions.
As the investigation unfolds, the Gurugram police remain committed to bringing the culprits to justice and ensuring that incidents like these serve as reminders of the importance of responsible alcohol consumption and personal safety.
