GUWAHATI, Sept 6: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified its operations against touting activities, ensuring that reserved tickets are available to genuine passengers.
In three separate incidents, the RPF arrested three touts and seized a total of 44 PRS tickets valued at over ₹1,00,000, an official statement said on Saturday.
In the first case, on September 2, 2025, a joint team from the Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) of New Jalpaiguri and RPF New Jalpaiguri Post raided Sitaram Online Service at Majawali in Jalpaiguri (West Bengal).
The team arrested one tout and recovered two future PRS tickets worth ₹830. A case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act (Case No. 1070/2025 dated September 4, 2025).
In the second operation on September 3, 2025, a team from CIB Lumding, led by RPF personnel, arrested a tout at the PRS counter in Dimapur.
Two future PRS tickets worth ₹3,465 were recovered, and a case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act (Case No. 278/2025 dated September 3, 2025).
In the third incident, on September 4, 2025, acting on source information, RPF Dalkhola Post arrested a tout at PRS Kanki.
The team recovered 7 future PRS tickets valued at ₹11,889.01 and 33 past PRS tickets worth ₹90,819.46, totalling 40 PRS tickets worth ₹1,02,708.47.
A case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act (Case No. 207/2025 dated September 4, 2025).
The RPF reiterated its commitment to combating ticket touting and ensuring that genuine passengers have access to train reservations.
The statement confirmed that such drives and raids will continue across the NFR jurisdiction.
