1 arrested, arms seized in Manipur

GUWAHATI, May 29: One person has been arrested and arms seized in Bishnupur district in Manipur.

Based on prior information about suspected movement of armed miscreants, the Indian Army along with the Manipur police conducted a joint operation between Kwakta and Sangthong in Bishnupur district in Manipur on May 27.

During the operation a joint vehicle checkpost was established on the Kwakta – Sangthong road. The soldiers deployed on the checkpost intercepted a passenger car and apprehended an individual. They also recovered a M-16 rifle, one pistol and ammunition are recovered from him.

The accused along with the recovered arms, ammunition and vehicle were handed over to the Manipur police for further investigation.
