DIMAPUR, May 31: Two persons, including a woman from Assam have been arrested by police with contraband shan flower, also called sunflower at the Dimapur Railway Station platform here.
One of the accused, Abdul Suhid of Bowalgiri village in Morigaon district of Assam, was apprehended on May 29 from the railway platform area with 56 grams of shan flower, which were hidden in five plastic soap cases, Dimapur commissioner of police Kevithuto Sophie said on Friday.
The woman, Mazada Begum (52), wife of Jakir Hussain of Kunusa village in Morigaon district, was apprehended with shan flower weighing 21 grams, which were hidden in two soap boxes.
Separate cases have been registered against the two in this connection.
Sophie said the Dimapur police commissionerate covering the three districts of Dimapur, Chumoukedima and Niuland, would continue its war against drugs to combat illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances through stringent force deployment.
