SHILLONG, June 15 (NNN): Figures of Aadhaar-seeded beneficiaries have increased to 78.21 per cent in Meghalaya.

This was after a month of launching the Aadhaar saturation campaign by the Social Welfare department to enroll and seed all eligible beneficiaries whose Aadhaar seeding would reflect in the POSHAN tracker and who would receive supplementary nutrition in Anganwadi Centres.

The campaign was launched after the department was alarmed at the prospect of cutting down of Supplementary Nutrition Programme allocation to 10 per cent only by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, due to the poor Aadhaar seeding of pregnant and lactating women and infants and children from 0-6 years in the state.

“The campaign, which was launched less than a month ago has achieved spectacular results with our state figures of Aadhaar-seeded beneficiaries rising from 13 per cent from the start of campaign to 78.21 per cent as of today,” the department said in a statement.

It informed that Garo Hills districts have performed commendably in spite of the hot and humid weather and power outages showing nothing is impossible where there is grit and determination. Three districts from Garo Hills have breached 95 per cent Aadhaar saturation mark and two are in and around 90 per cent. Jaintia Hills districts and Ri Bhoi have also done well.

Khasi Hills districts have covered ground but not enough, especially South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills. The total State Aadhaar-seeded ICDS beneficiaries are now 78.21 per cent out of 4.45 lakh total beneficiaries.

The deputy commissioners of all districts have deployed innovative strategies and ideas to resolve issues and motivate their staff. The Social Welfare Department has extended congratulations to all deputy commissioners and Social Welfare Department officers, DPOs of ICDS, CDPOs and anganwadi workers and helpers for putting in remarkable efforts in this campaign which had a clarion call, “No Aadhar Saturation, No Rest”.

Principal secretary Social Welfare Sampath Kumar IAS has assured that all special efforts will be acknowledged and rewarded.
