Arunachal education minister flags off four college buses

ITANAGAR, FEB 21: The education and RWD minister P D Sona on Friday flagged-off four college buses of various in state in presence of several top officers of higher education directorates and others.

Sona informed, “Today four 50 seater bus has been flagged off to four colleges of state which include Govt College, Doimukh (50 seater bus), Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College, Deomali (45) seater bus), Jomin Tayeng Model Degree College, Roing (45 Seater bus) and Govt Model Degree College, Daporijo (32 seater bus). The buses have been procured from the State Plan scheme with a fund provision of Rs 1.5 crore during the current financial year.”

The bus is being dedicated to the welfare of students studying in their respective colleges. It has been believed that the buses would be mitigating to and fro transportation problems faced by the students, as the most of the colleges are located in far-off places from township, the minister said.
Referring to recent show cause notice with Rs 1 lakh fine served to more than 35 private schools in state, the education minister while appreciating the step of the Child Right Commission said that the step was a beginning and more such action would be initiated soon.

“Everyone should come forward and I have always been saying that many schools have not been following the guidelines and it’s a matter of investigation as how these schools have obtained NOC and permission to run the schools,” he said.

I have already stopped the processing of new private schools in state before all the formalities cleared as per guidelines and safety measures, he added.

With regards to distribution of uniform of school students, the education minister said that due to quality compromise and different in sizes, quality and quantity it was difficult for all the students to use the said cloth.

“Even in centrally procurements it has been observed that some quality has been compromised. In new session we will prefer for DBT mode and this is discussion with the district administration about the modalities,” the minister said.

Director, higher & technical education Milorai Modi, OSD to HM education Pema Norbu Thongchi, joint director Joram Muthu, deputy director Minto Ete, SLO(NSS) AK Mishra among other officers were present during the ceremony held near Mahatma Gandhi Park at Niti Vihar in the city.
