GUWAHATI, April 20: Block Health Mela was held at Wageasi Deficit School under Kharkutta C&RD block in North Garo Hills district on Tuesday to commemorate the 4th Anniversary of Ayushman Bharat – Health & Wellness Centres in Meghalaya.
The Health Mela was also observed as part of India’s 75 years of Independence.
Rupert Momin, MLA Kharkutta and chairman MNREDA graced the occasion as the chief guest. He highlighted the assembly of students, local people and village leaders of the area on the importance of health and the various schemes given by the health department for the welfare of the people. He also inaugurated the launching of National Deworming Day as part of the programme.
Other health related activities such as yoga sessions, tele-consultation, anaemia screening, awareness on teenage pregnancy and focused group discussion on family planning were held simultaneously.
The other departments who collaborated in the programme organised by the office of DM&HO, North Garo Hills were ICDS, DLSA, Labour and Education department.
