BSF ADG undertakes four-day visit to Meghalaya Frontier to review operational readiness

GUWAHATI, June 1: Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, IPS, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command, Kolkata, undertook a four-day visit to the Meghalaya Frontier to review operational preparedness and security measures along the Indo-Bangladesh international border.

During the visit, the ADG inspected several Border Outposts (BOPs) located in the West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts. He interacted with BSF personnel, acknowledging their dedication and commendable service under challenging terrain and weather conditions.

O P Upadhyay, IG BSF Frontier Meghalaya, briefed the ADG on the prevailing border situation, recent anti-smuggling operations, deployment strategies, and coordination efforts with local authorities. He reviewed the measures taken to prevent illegal infiltration and exfiltration, and appreciated the force’s success in curbing cross-border activities.

While addressing the officers of BSF Frontier Meghalaya, the ADG emphasized the importance of maintaining high morale, constant vigilance, and professionalism. He also highlighted the critical role of civic action programs in strengthening ties with border communities.

In addition to operational reviews, the ADG held meetings with senior officials of the civil and police administration to enhance inter-agency coordination and ensure seamless security management in the region.

Aggarwal also paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Meghalaya, Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar, at Raj Bhavan, Shillong. He briefed the Governor on the current security scenario along the Indo-Bangladesh border and the proactive steps taken by the BSF to safeguard national interests. He also met with the Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, DP Wahlang, to discuss matters related to border management, BSF–civil administration cooperation, and the support extended by state agencies in BSF operations.
