Addressing a roundtable with partner countries and partner states of Hornbill Festival 2024 at the bamboo hall at Kisama, Velarde emphasised the importance of the people-to-people connection between the Republic of Peru and the Nagas due to its shared similarities in culture and traditions.

Chairing the programme, Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) chairman and adviser to Nagaland chief minister, Abu Metha said the roundtable is a platform to forge partnerships, ties, and networking with each other.

He called upon the visiting dignitaries to look beyond the traditional and cultural aspects and delve into the economic prospects and opportunities that Nagaland has to offer.

He acknowledged the Sikkim government for being very supportive towards the Hornbill festival and for participating with a large delegation.

An Invest India representative lauded the Nagaland government for promoting the Hornbill Festival as a festival of business conference, partnership and collaboration rather than mere festivity.

Secretary, DIPR Sikkim, Annapurna Alley shared the similarities, advantages and disadvantages that the two states confront due to the pattern of their terrain and the scope of the tourism sector.

During the meeting, two MoUs were signed between the Nagaland higher education department and Salesforce.com India Pvt. Ltd and between the IDAN and Omsheel Foods.
