AGARTALA, Sept 12: Tripura is set to witness the fulfillment of a long-cherished aspiration as the Central Government has sanctioned the establishment of a Central Tribal University in the state.
This was announced by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, who termed the decision a historic milestone for the people of Tripura.
“The university will not only serve as a premier center of learning but will also play a pivotal role in regional development, skill enhancement, employment generation, and preservation of tribal heritage,” Debbarma said.
He added that the institution would empower future generations of Tripura to become more educated, skilled, and self-reliant.
“While fostering modern education, the university will also ensure the preservation of our rich cultural and traditional identity, further strengthening Tripura’s role in the nation’s development,” he noted. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Tripura, the minister thanked Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram for what he described as a “historic and visionary decision.”
