District police making significant community centric efforts: Dy CM Patton

GUWAHATI, Aug 8: Deputy chief minister Y Patton said, district
policing has made significant progress through community
centric efforts, ensuring improvement of case registration to
an all time high in 10 years. Patton said this during the virtual
inauguration programme of the new office buildings of
Commandant, 3rd NAP Battalion Tuensang and superintendent
of police Zunheboto at PHQ Kohima . He said, 102 cases were
registered during a period of 7 months so far and overall 114
cases have been registered in the last nine months, which is
highest in last 12 years. The deputy chief minister said, the
state police initiative ‘War on Drugs’ has ensured 26 cases
registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic
Substances(NDPS) Act, leading to arrests of approximately 40
persons and proactive policing ensuring improved security
scenario through high detection under NDPS. He also said, 42
people were arrested under the Nagaland Liquor Total
Prohibition Act. Patton further added, that due to proactive
policing, law and order situation and episodes of violence have
been brought down significantly this calendar year which has
resulted in two police station jurisdictions coming out of the
purview of Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
