IMPHAL: Police in Thoubal district of Manipur on Sunday arrested eight students who were allegedly behind vandalism at an examination centre of Class-XII conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM). An official source said that the eight students were arrested after they surrendered to the Yairipok police station of Thoubal district where a case was registered regarding the vandalism.
All the arrested are students of Azad Higher Secondary School appearing in higher secondary examination at examination centre ACME Higher Secondary School, Yairipok of Thoubal district.
It can be mentioned here that, on Saturday, a group of students appearing in the ongoing Class-XII final examination, indulged in vandalism at their examination at ACME Higher Secondary School Yairipok, injuring several students in the melee. The incident occurred reportedly after the teachers on examination duty denied unfair means during the examination.
Some students of Azad Higher Secondary School allegedly pelted concrete stones at the new building of ACME besides damaging infrastructure like benches and desks, etc.
