ITANAGAR, May 5: A five-day capacity-building workshop on Food, Nutrition, Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (FNHW) began from Monday under the Social Inclusion and Social Development (SISD) vertical of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
Organised by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), the training is being attended by officials from both the District Mission Management Units (DMMUs) and the State Mission Management Unit (SMMU).
The workshop aims to mainstream FNHW interventions into the DAY-NRLM framework and build the capacity of mission staff for effective field-level implementation. It also focuses on driving strategic convergence with line departments and promoting sustainable community well-being.
The training is structured around four core thematic pillars: System Strengthening, Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), Convergence with Line Departments and Food Enterprise Promotion.
Renowned national-level experts have been engaged to facilitate the workshop. Key resource persons include Devashish Bisawal and Shivangi Karmakar from the National Mission Management Unit, Ministry of Rural Development, and Nandini Sen, National Resource Person for FNHW from NIRDPR.
In her inaugural address, Sangeeta Yirang, CEO-cum-State Mission Director of ArSRLM, emphasized the strategic importance of the workshop. She encouraged participants to fully engage with the sessions, strengthen their domain knowledge, and act as change agents for Self Help Groups (SHGs) at the grassroots.
“This workshop is a stepping stone toward embedding the FNHW agenda within the broader goals of the rural livelihood mission,” she said, adding that the initiative will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life and nutritional well-being of rural communities in Arunachal Pradesh.
The workshop is expected to serve as a catalyst for integrated development and build long-term capacities for improved community outcomes in health, nutrition, hygiene, and sustainable livelihoods.
