Green flag by MePGCL to release water

SHILLONG, Aug 22: Based on the IMD warning issued on Wednesday on the weather warnings for the next 7 days on rainfall, the Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited (MePGCL) has commenced the release of water from the Umiam Stage I Reservoir, starting from Wednesday night.

The release is being made in a controlled manner to ensure safety and prevent downstream impacts.

The water level in the reservoir was at 3216.15 feet at the start of the release.

The MePGCL is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to adjust the gate openings as necessary to ensure safe and efficient management of the reservoir. (NNN)
