GUWAHATI, Dec 15: In a fruitful counter-drug operation, the Tripura Police apprehended a large amount of prohibited cough syrup valued at more than Rs 10 lakh from the home of Vicky Majumdar in the Matinagar neighbourhood near the Bangladeshi border in the West District.
Conversing with reporters, according to Amtal Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Asish Dasgupta, the police of Amtali Police Station, under the West District, conducted a raid on Friday and retrieved 2090 bottles of the illegal cough syrup known as Eskuf after a reliable tip off.
“The drug paraphernalia was cleverly concealed in sacks within Vicky Majumdar’s residence. We have arrested Vicky Majumdar in connection with the drug bust”, the SDPO revealed.
He added that the drugs that were seized had a market worth of around Rs 10 lakh and verified the arrest.
He said that in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, an investigation has been started against Vicky Majumdar.
