Sildubi, Jan 11: Ahead of the Meghalaya State Assembly Elections 2023, political party candidates and independent candidates both started their election campaigns. An election rally was held in Sildubi Playground in Rambrai Jyrngam Assembly Constituency under West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya on Tuesday for an independent candidate Remington G. Momin.
More than five thousand people from both Garo and Khasi communities from various places took part in the election rally. The meeting was presided over by Bhalanglin Khar Lyngdoh. According to Lyngdoh, the main motto of the candidate is to uplift the future of the area. He also added that Remington G. Momin took volunteer retirement from Block Elementary Education officer post after people urged him to contest in the election from the Rambrai Jyrngam LAC.
In this regard, candidate Remington G. Momin said, “I had more than 8 years of my Government service left, but I took volunteer retirement from my job for my people and their strong demands from various sections of people. In the upcoming times, God will direct me to serve people for their better future and I will take that path only.”
During the speech to the public, Sharai Kyrpang Hujon, youth president, said that there is no true leader in Rambrai Jyrngam, so he thanked the people for bringing R G Momin as a true leader. Hujon alleged that due to massive corruption by the present MLA of the Rambrai Jyrngam Constituency as well as the whole Secretariat of the Meghalaya State under full of corruption, R G Momin will uplift the future of the society.
He also alleged that the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) coalition includes the National People’s Party (NPP), United Democratic Party (UDP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), and the BJP are now not for the poor people of the State. They never care about the people of the State, instead they only think about their own development.
Asking about the present sitting MLA of the Rambrai-Jyrngam Constituency to the independent candidate R G Momin, he replied that he doesn’t want to blame anything but people will judge in the upcoming election. People of the area already had learned what he did in the past. “I may blame anything to my Opposition candidate, but let people judge,” Momin added.
