Manipur: 4 ULFA-I cadre surrender before Assam Police, DGP encourage youth not to follow path of violence

Imphal, Nov 29: Four hardcore cadres of the United Liberation Front of Axom-Independent (ULFA-I) surrendered before the Assam Police in Guwahati on November 29.

A surrender ceremony was held at the Assam Police Headquarters in the presence of Assam Director General of Police GP Singh where the four cadres surrendered with arms and ammunition.

The surrendered ULFA-I leaders have been identified as Dipok Hatiboruah alias Dibya Axom, Nayann Patmaut alias Bikram Axom, Montu Moran alias Latest Axom alias Kulang Moran and Parash Moran alias Gopal Axom.

Dibya and Nayan Patmaut, also known as Bikram Axom, have surrendered to Charaideo police. Dibya, an S/S LT rank member of the outlawed organization ULFA-I, joined on May 25, 2011, and received three months of warfare training in Taka, Myanmar. Nayan, the son of Tupidhar Patmaout of Lukhura Kham Gorakhiya habi under the Sonari police station of Charaideo district, served as an S/S Captain Rank in ULFA-I. He joined the organization in 2010 and also received his training in Taka, Myanmar. Both individuals surrendered at the office of the Superintendent of Police on November 24, 2023.
