Manipur CM N Biren Singh  Urges Emas To Convince Armed Outfits To Hold Talks With Government

IMPHAL, April 5 (NNN): Manipur chief minister, N Biren Singh has called upon women based organisations to extend support to the government in its efforts to bring the armed outfits to the negotiating table.

Addressing a reception ceremony of BJP MLAs hosted by Nupi Keithel Sinpham amadi Saktam Kanba Lup, Khwairamband Bazar, the chief minister recalled the role being taken by the women in the Manipur society. He reiterated the state government’s appeal to the armed outfits to come to the negotiating table, saying that his government would like to bring a political solution to end problems in the state.

The chief minister further recalled the roles that the women of the state took part during crucial times of Manipur. Biren said that women had taken big roles to save the state during the historic Chahi Taret Khuntakpa (seven year devastation). He added that till now women of the state are taking the main role in any crucial issues in the state.

On the occasion, the chief minister also announced various initiatives to be implemented by his government for the welfare of the women vendors of the Ema Market (all-women run market).

Apart from the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues from BJP, the function was also attended by BJP MLAs.

On the occasion, women vendors presented gifts to the chief minister, ministers and MLAs.
