Imphal, Oct 31: A Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) was shot dead by suspected militants in Manipur on Tuesday morning, making the task of restoring peace and normalcy increasingly challenging for the state government.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh confirmed this on the X platform. The deceased officer, identified as Chingtham Anand, was stationed in Moreh. He was inspecting a newly built helipad at the Eastern ground in the border town when he was shot in the abdomen. Despite being rushed to a primary health centre in Moreh, SDPO Anand tragically passed away due to his bullet injuries.
Expressing his grief over the killing of the SDPO, CM Singh posted on X, “Deeply saddened by the cold-blooded killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand, OC Moreh Police this morning. His dedication to serve and protect the people will always be remembered. The perpetrators will be brought to justice.”
CM Singh has announced that Myanmar nationals are infiltrating Indian territory with the intention of causing disruption in his state. Speaking to the media after an event, the Chief Minister declined to provide further details on the matter, stating that the situation is still under investigation.
