Manipur police recovers arms in violence affected districts

IMPHAL, DEC 11:  In the continuing joint combing operations with the central security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of violence affected districts of Manipur, Manipur police recovered caches of arms and explosives in the last 48 hours.
The police said that a cache of arms and explosives which include one SMG 9mm carbine with one magazine, a 9mm pistol with one magazine, one pistol, four 36 HE hand grenades along with two detonators, four Chinese hand grenade, one teargas grenade, a stun grenade, one tube launcher, (one live 84mm illumination shell, four shot gun shell and two 12 bore cartridge were recovered in an operation in the fringe area of Imphal West district.
Another cache of arms and explosives was also recovered in another operation in the fringe area of Thoubal district during the same period, the police also said.
The recovered items were one 7.62mm SLR Rifle, a .303 Rifle with magazine, two 36 HE hand grenade with detonator, two Chinese walkie talkie set, three 40 mm Lathode Bomb, one Tube Launcher, two arm ring, five stun shells, one tear smoke shell, one stringer hand grenade and a grenade key, the police added.
The security forces also conducted search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts.
During the operation in Churachandpur district, an illegal bunker was dismantled, the police further added. (NNN)
