Shillong, May 22: The newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, Idashisha Nongrang, has announced that she will hold interactive sessions with the public every Thursday, starting May 30, 2024. These sessions are scheduled to take place from 11 AM to 2 PM at the state DGP office.
In a public notice, DGP Nongrang emphasized that the initiative aims to foster a stronger relationship between the public and the police. The notice stated, “The Director General of Police, Meghalaya, is pleased to announce that, effective from May 30, 2024, the DGP will be available to meet the public to address any pertinent issues or grievances.”
DGP Nongrang encouraged citizens to utilize this opportunity to voice their concerns directly. She specified that registration for the sessions will be open at the Police Headquarters Gate from 10 AM to 11:45 AM on the day of the meetings.
“We encourage all citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss their concerns directly with the DGP. Registration of names will be accepted at Police Headquarters Gate from 10 AM to 11:45 AM,” the statement added.
Idashisha Nongrang, who officially assumed her role as DGP on May 20, 2024, is the first woman to hold this position in Meghalaya. A 1992 batch IPS officer from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Nongrang has outlined her priorities, which include maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and addressing crimes against women.
