ITANAGAR, April 20: MLA Nabam Vivek of the 14th Doimukh Assembly constituency has assured residents of Kimin that the Inner Line Permit (ILP) check gate currently situated in the centre of the township will be relocated to its entry point.
According to an official statement, Vivek addressed the long-standing concern raised by the local public, particularly during the election period and earlier instances.
“Even before I became MLA, the issue had been raised by the locals. I find it very important when I see the police of Kimin township carrying out ILP checking near the police station, which might not yield the desired results since it is located in the middle of the town,” he said.
He informed that after taking office, the issue was brought to his notice and steps were immediately initiated to address it.
He recalled an earlier intervention at the Gumto check gate, where an ILP counter was established to facilitate smoother access to permits for visitors from outside the state.
“The system has brought transparency,” he said.
Vivek also noted that the recently inaugurated multistoried police station in Kimin, opened by Home Minister Mama Natung, served as an opportunity to present the issue to higher authorities.
With the support of Papum Pare Police, infrastructure for a new ILP check gate has been created near the ITBP boundary.
“The work has almost been completed and soon the facility will be handed over to Papum Pare Police for use by Kimin police,” he added.
The MLA urged the police to make optimal use of the new facility and address public concerns about the effectiveness of ILP checks.
He also called on the Smart City Development authorities to expedite the completion of the ILP and police check gates at Banderdewa and Hollongi.
Additionally, he requested that similar facilities be considered for the Gumto check gate.
