DIMAPUR, Oct 10: The Naga civil society organisations and the church bodies extended support to the “September Joint Accordant” between the NSCN (IM) and the working committee of the Naga National Political Groups.

At a meeting held under the initiative of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation on October 8, the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum, Naga Christian Forum Manipur, Don Bosco Society, Naga Mothers Association, Naga Hoho, Nagaland Tribes Council, Tenyimi Peoples Organisation, United Naga Council, Central Nagaland Tribes Council, Global Naga Forum, Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation, Naga Students’ Federation and All Naga Students Association Manipur affirmed that the Naga public will render their whole hearted assistance to this reconciliation process for the NSCN (IM) and NNPGs to find common ground and mutually agree on a relationship of cooperation based on the Naga historical and political rights in order to move forward.
The organisations said the public awaits the fulfillment of the “September Joint Accordant” by the signatories in letter and spirit.
A press release said the organisations came together with a realisation that the Naga people must change by acting in hope and acknowledging one another as people of common belonging.
The “September Joint Accordant” signed on September 14, 2022, by the leaders of the two groups pledged to work together in the spirit of love among others. It was also decided to desist from all forms of armed violence and refrain from indulging in violence of words through print and social media among Naga political groups and the public.
The “September Joint Accordant” also pledged to honour the “Covenant Of Reconciliation” of June 13, 2009, in letter and in spirit.
