GUWAHATI, April 28: To ensure readiness for the upcoming monsoon season, the 1st Bn NDRF, Patgaon, Guwahati, conducted an intensive Monsoon Preparedness and Mobilization Drill across 3 districts of 3 States of Assam, Tripura and Mizoram recently.
The sites for the exercise were Mini Stadium Sonapur, District Kamrup Metro, Assam, near Bank of Gomati River, District Gomati, (Tripura) and Village Chungtlang, District –Mamit (Mizoram). During exercise, scenarios were created on Flood Water Rescue that frequently affects the north-eastern region. The exercises focused on rapid mobilization, search & rescue, evacuation of affected persons and pre hospital treatment of affected personnel in both rural and urban areas. The Exercise commenced in early hours on April 26 and concluded on April 27.
The drill was organised with the objective of evaluating the operational readiness of the NDRF teams and was aimed at strengthening capability to handle diverse emergencies such as floods, landslides and earthquakes. The drill was designed to evaluate response efficiency, ability to work in seamless coordination among response agencies.
The 1st Battalion NDRF has been at the forefront of disaster response in the Northeast, having played a crucial role during past incidents such as floods, earthquakes and landslides. With this comprehensive monsoon preparedness initiative, the NDRF reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding lives and livelihoods in the region.
