NSCN-IM confers Naga status on several tribes

DIMAPUR, July 29: The NSCN-IM has conferred Naga status on several tribes on Monday.

“As per the CAO of Komrem Region of the NSCN-IM, this declaration is made that the bona fide tribe status of the tribes of Aimol, Chiru, Kom, Koireng, Kharam and Purum is Naga as they have officially merged with the Nagas. Thus, there should be no confusion about their tribe identities whatsoever,” the declaration of the NSCN-IM said.

Therefore, these Naga tribes should not be harassed in any manner including in the name of taxation by the Kuki organizations or valley based organizations, the NSCN-IM also said. These Naga tribes as part of the Naga family should be respected and honoured, it added. (NNN)
