Rail connectivity extended upto Khongsang in Manipur; inaugural run today

GUWAHATI, Oct 12: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to extend the Jan Shatabdi Express train between Agartala to Jiribam upto Khongsang in Manipur with the inaugural run on October 13. The section has been constructed under Jiribam–Imphal new line project.

The inaugural run train will be flagged off by the President of India at 8:45 AM from Agartala Railway Station.

The train will commence its regular journey from October 14 and run on Monday, Wednesday & Friday, an official release informed. The train journey time will be around 7 hrs covering a distance of 300 kilometre against about 15 hrs or so by road, it said.

The train is fitted with new Linke Hofmann Busch coaches with latest amenities for passengers as well as a Vistadome coach. During its regular run train no. 12097 (Agartala – Khongsang) Jan Shatabdi Express will depart from Agartala at 6AM from October 14 to reach Khongsang at 1:40 PM on the same day.

In return direction, train no. 12098 (Khongsang – Agartala) Jan Shatabdi Express will depart from Khongsang at 2:40 PM from October 14 to reach Agartala at 10PM.

The train will run with a composition of 8 coaches- 1 Vistadome coach, one AC chair car, four non – AC chair car, one Luggage-cum-power car and one guard-cum-luggage rake.

The train will run via Ambasa, Dharmanagar, New Karimganj, Badarpur Jn., Arunachal, Jiribam, Vangaichungpao, Rani Guidinlieu and Thingou, informed the release from NFR CPRO Sabyasachi De. (AGENCIES)
