Tea vendor killed in Tripura

GUWAHATI, May 24: A tea vendor has died in Agartala in Tripura after his customer reportedly attacked him with a piece of brick.

The incident occurred when the victim, Sukhen Das refused to serve tea and cigarettes to the accused, Dipankar sarkar as the latter had not cleared his past dues.

A heated argument ensured and Sarkar in a fit of rage, attacked Das with a piece of brick. Sarkar reportedly hit Das several times on his head, leading to multiples injuries. Locals intervened and rushed the victim to the GBP Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

Das had also asked Sarkar to clear the previous dues if he wanted to buy more edibles and tea from his shop, sources said. However, the latter did not pay any heed to it.

Meanwhile, Bithi Das, the widow of the victim lodged a complaint with the East Agartala Police Station after his death.

The police arrested Sarkar and produced him before the court.
