Three Students Expelled As HSLC Exam Begins In Manipur

IMPHAL, March 17 (NNN): On the first day of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2023 today, conducted by Board of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), three students were expelled for impersonation.

An official source said that the three students were expelled after other persons impersonated them in the exam.

Two of the students were expelled from the examination centre at MG Evergreen High School and the rest from Ideal High School. Both the schools are located at Pallel of Kakching district, the BOSEM said in a statement.

The HSLC exam commenced today with altogether 38,127 students – 19,499 boys and 18,628 girls – giving the exam at 158 examination centres across the state.

Twelve physically challenged students are also giving the examination. The examination will continue till April 3.

Of the total, a maximum of 28,477 students are from the private schools, 8,130 from the government-run schools and 1,520 from government aided schools.

Authorities of BOSEM have taken up strict measures to prevent students from using unfair means during the exam.

A total of 76 inspection teams and 64 flying squads will conduct frequent visits to the centres to check using unfair means.

To assist the BOSEM authorities in the smooth conduct of the exam, the district administrations have also promulgated various restrictions under section 144 of CrPC in and around the exam centres.

The order prohibited gathering of four or more persons within 100 meters periphery of each examination centre.

The order further prohibited entry of vehicles and persons carrying arms, daos, swords, knives, heavy iron bars pointed or blunt, other lethal weapons etc. and any other unauthorized persons within the specified areas.

The steps have been taken up as preventive measures to prevent breach of peace and tranquility in and around the examination centres, the order stated.
