AGARTALA, June 14: The Tripura Pradesh BJP on Saturday staged state wide protests along the Bangladesh border, condemning the recent attack and vandalism of the ancestral home of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore in the neighbouring country.
Leading a protest rally in Agartala and near the Akhaura Integrated Check Post, BJP General Secretary and MLA Bhagaban Das said, “A barbaric incident in Bangladesh has shocked not only Tripura but the entire nation. The ancestral home of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore has been vandalised. Fascist and fundamentalist elements have targeted the residence of Tagore, who is a revered figure for Bengalis in India and for the people of undivided India. This is a direct attack on our shared cultural heritage.”
He added, “There must be a limit to such destructive jealousy. Even a towering cultural icon like Tagore has not been spared. These groups of hyenas have committed an unforgivable act.”
Das also criticised the interim government in Bangladesh, alleging its failure to maintain law and order.
“The administration has completely failed to prevent such attacks, creating unrest in the country,” he stated.
The BJP leader informed that protests were being held at all ICPs and across every district in the state on Saturday, with further demonstrations scheduled for June 16 in all assembly constituencies.
“Through this protest, we are sending a clear message: those responsible for this act are mentally deranged. We urge everyone to raise their voice against such atrocities so that such acts are not repeated,” he added.
