All Assam Media Badminton competition inaugurated in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, March 8: To encourage sports among the media persons, All Assam Media Badminton Competition was inaugurated on Saturday.

The All Assam Media Badminton Competition was organised by Dibrugarh Press Club in connection with Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Dibrugarh Press Club was established in 1975 and this year the club has stepped into its 50th year.

“Dibrugarh Press club is one of the oldest and prestigious press clubs of Assam and this year we are celebrating our 50th year. To encourage sports among the media persons, the All Assam Media Badminton competition was organised,” said DPC general secretary Ripunjoy Das.

He added, “The media persons are always busy 24×7 and don’t get time to culture their sporting activity. So, to encourage the sports, we have organised the Badminton competition among media persons,”.

DPC president Manash Jyoti Dutta said the Media Badminton competition showcased the hidden sporting talent of the media persons.

“This year we are celebrating the golden jubilee year and many programmes will be organised in the coming days. Many media persons from across the district participated in the tournament,”  said Dutta.

Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation (DMC) Mayor Dr Saikat Patra, DMC Deputy Mayor Ujjal Phukan, Dibrugarh Election officer Pranjil Gogoi and Dibrugarh District Sports Association (DDSA) President Niranjan Saikia among others were present among them at the inaugural programme.
