in the inaugural match of Durand Cup in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.
The inaugural programme will start from 2 pm onwards on Tuesday.
Lalnghinglova Hmar, Sports Minister of Mizoram will grace the occasion as chief guest.
Dasho Lotay Tshiring, formar Prime Minister of Bhutan will be present as special guest
The programme will also be graced by Shri Pramod Boro, CEM of Bodoland Territorial Council and senior officials of Indian Army.
The BTR Government will host the 133rd edition of the Durand Cup from July 30 to August 21 at the SAI Stadium in Kokrajhar.
“In a bid to upgrade and develop sports infrastructure across the region, The BTR Government has left no stones unturned and is currently focusing on construction of Bir Chilagang Memorial Mini Stadiums at six locations: Ramfalbil (Kokrajhar), Runikhata (Chirang), Barghuli (Tamulpur), Kokilabari (Baksa), Dwarkuchi (Tamulpur), and Rowta (Udalguri) as these are the epicentres of raw talents. A state-of-the-art sports stadium in Kokrajhar and a Sports Academy in Udalguri are also underway. Additionally, seven mini stadiums and two district stadiums are under construction as part of the NIDA (NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance) program,” a PR stated.
