KASA – Senior FCC Lift GDSA Football League Championship

DIPHU, Aug 16: Karbi Anglong Sports Association (Senior) Football Coaching Centre (KASA – Senior FCC) lifted the championship of Greater Diphu Sports Association (GDSA) Football League Championship of B- Division by defeating Jirpo Chingri FC in the final match played at KASA stadium here on Tuesday.

The tournament is played in memory of Nirola Tissopi and donated by president, GDSA, Gautam Terang.

The KASA FCC boys drew first blood in the 15th minute of first half through Pritom Dera being assisted by Borish Engjai. The Jirpo Chingri boys failed to take control of the ball as the KASA FCC boys were smarter. They (Jirpo Chingri couldn’t do much to equalize the goal and at the end of first half were conceded by a goal.

Resuming in the second half the Jirpo Chingri boys came up with some fresh energy and tried to take control of the ball. For about 10 to 15 minutes they are able to take hold of the ball, but their efforts went down as the smart KASA FCC boys got their second goal through Pritom Dera in the 23rd minute of the second half through an assist from Songja Taro.

Even after conceding two goals the Jirpo Chingri boys did not dampen their spirit and made some good counterattacks, but the KASA FCC boys were more smarter with their quick passing tactics. But the hard labour of Jirpo Chingri went down as Pritom Dera of KASA FCC made his hat trick in the 38th minute of the second half.

Before the injury time, the KASA FCC got their fourth goal in 44th minute through Marcus with an assist from Manuj Ronghang.

For Jirpo Chingri got some good chances but were prevented by the defenders of KASA FCC boys or missed the shots. Finally the KASA FCC boys could lift the championship after a score of 4-0 against Jirpo Chingri FC.

Four semi-finalist teams have been promoted to A-Division. They are KASA (Senior) FCC, Jirpo Chingri FC, The Pilgrim FA and Waithai FC.

The championship team KASA (Senior) FCC received a trophy and cash prize from the president, GDSA and donor of the tournament, Gautam Terang and general secretary, KASA, Pankaj Teron, The runners-up team Jirpo Chingri also received a cash prize and trophy from the family members of Khorsing Terang, donor for the runners up trophy.

In individual performance the best goalkeeper was awarded to Nongkulat Engti of KASA (Senior) FCC, while the promising player of the league was adjudged to Malongkiri Tisso of Pilgrim FC, the highest scorer was given to Songja Teron of KASA FCC and player of the match was awarded to Pritom Dera for making a hat trick. The best discipline team was adjudged to Karbi United FC.
