Nandita Gorlosa interacts with sports organisations and clubs

GUWAHATI, June 3: Assam Sports Minister Nandita Gorlosa, who recently took on the additional portfolio of Sports and Youth Welfare, engaged with sportspersons, sports organizations, and clubs from Dima Hasao at the District Library Auditorium on Saturday.

During the interaction, the minister discussed the requirements for improving facilities, infrastructure, and training methods in the district.

Gorlosa praised the district’s people for their perseverance and physical attributes, which make them ideal for excelling in sports and bringing fame to the state and nation.

She also emphasized the career opportunities available in the field and pledged to create avenues to encourage more people to pursue sports.

Recognizing the negative influence of anti-social activities on youth, the minister highlighted the role of sports in combating this issue. Several sports associations and clubs submitted memoranda addressing limited scopes and infrastructure deficiencies, with requests for coaches and instructors from the District Sports Office and the District Sports Association.

The event was attended by notable individuals, including Nipolol Hojai, Executive Member of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Thai Tsho Daulagupu, Principal Secretary, Simanta Kr. Das, ACS, Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Kemprai, Former Special Commissioner to GoA, the Principal of Haflong Govt College, the Research Officer & DIPRO, and the Youth Coordinator of NYK.
