Over 4000 Runners Participate In IIT-Guwahati’s Annual Guwahati Half Marathon HT Bureau

GUWAHATI, April 8: 
Techniche, the annual Techno-Management fest of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), successfully organised the Guwahati Half Marathon on Sunday at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium, Sarusajai. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 4000 enthusiastic runners from Guwahati city and beyond Assam, all joining hands to run for a cleaner tomorrow.

The Guwahati Half Marathon featured two types of runs: the “Spirit Run” spanning 6 kilometers and the challenging “Glory Run” covering 21 kilometers. The theme of the marathon, “Run for a Cleaner Tomorrow,” echoed the spirit of environmental consciousness and community engagement.

The marathon commenced with the Spirit Run at 5:15 AM, followed by the prestigious Glory Run at 6:15 AM, both starting from the iconic Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium. Participants showcased incredible resilience and determination as they braved the course, embodying the ethos of health, sustainability, and unity.

The accolades of the Guwahati Half Marathon are bestowed upon the following victors:
Spirit Run Male Category: 1st – Nitish Kumar; 2nd – Sandeep Yadav; 3rd – Dinesh Kumar
Spirit Run Female Category: 1st – Gloryfy Kurbah; 2nd – Sangita Bordoloi; 3rd – Padmini Das

Glory Run Male Category: 1st – Chandan Yadav; 2nd – Pawan Singh; 3rd – Bijay Deka
Glory Run Female Category: 1st – Shyamali Singh; 2nd – Rinky Kumari Chauhan; 3rd – Anita Das

Samyak Sharma, Convener of the Guwahati Half Marathon, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are thrilled to witness such massive participation in the Guwahati Half Marathon. It’s inspiring to see individuals from all walks of life coming together to promote fitness and environmental awareness. This event wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors, volunteers, and the entire community.”

The Guwahati Half Marathon serves as a platform not only for promoting physical well-being but also for advocating for environmental stewardship. As participants crossed the finish line, they left behind a trail of motivation and a commitment to making a positive impact on society.

In addition, influencer nutritionist Shweta Himatsingka graced the event as the star runner, further adding to the excitement and energy of the Guwahati Half Marathon.
