GUWAHATI, July 6: With a view to gear up development initiatives of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria chaired a meeting with the chief executive member (CEM) of BTC, Pramod Boro, and other officials at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
During the meeting, Chief of the BTC, Pramod Boro, gave a comprehensive overview of all the development initiatives carried out by the BTC in association with different departments. He highlighted the progress of centrally-sponsored flagship schemes and social welfare projects being implemented by the government of BTR for the welfare of the people in the region. He also sought the guidance and support of the Governor to carry out the development activities in the BTR.
Principal secretary of BTC, Akash Deep, gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the profile of BTC, special initiatives, and flagship missions taken by the government of BTR. He also provided updates on the status of education, health, revenue, fund management, agriculture, urban development, PHED (Public Health Engineering Department), social welfare, PWD (Public Works Department), National Food Security Mission, animal husbandry and veterinary, sports, youth welfare, and other sectors.
In the meeting, the Governor emphasised the importance of focusing on agriculture as it is a driving force to increase the income of farmers and improve their standard of living. He further urged officials to promote fishery and mushroom cultivation, which have the potential to yield good returns. The Governor expressed satisfaction with the performance of officials in serving the people and assured his support to the BTC in their endeavours to serve the people of the BTR.
