Police arrest three individuals for fraud in Jorhat

Jorhat, July 20: In a recent development, three individuals have been arrested by the police on charges of committing fraud in Jorhat district. The suspects allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities by installing fake QR code machines and using counterfeit SIM cards.

One of the accused, identified as Jasimuddin Ahmed (32) and a resident of Hatigaon, Guwahati, was apprehended on Wednesday following complaints lodged against him at Pulibor and Mariani police stations. The complaints alleged that Ahmed had duped people by employing fake QR codes in his scams.

In a separate incident, two individuals, Partha Pratim Bora (25) and Prince Phukan (25), both hailing from Bokota Nemuguri, Sivasagar, were arrested for engaging in online fraud. They were found to be using SIM cards obtained with fake IDs to carry out their fraudulent activities.

As the investigation is still ongoing in both cases, the police are working to gather more evidence and determine the extent of the fraudulent activities committed by these individuals.

The arrests signal a significant step in the fight against fraudulent schemes in the region.
