Preparations underway for Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 in Nagaon

Nagaon, July 21: In anticipation of the upcoming national-level intensive Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 immunisation programme, a City Task Force Immunisation (CTFI) meeting for Nagaon Urban was held on Friday at the Conference Hall of the Bhugeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital. The meeting, chaired by superintendent of BP Civil Hospital, Dr Lakhidhar Das, saw the presence of key officials, including chairperson of Nagaon Municipal Board, Ambika Mazumdar, district immunisation officer Nagaon, Dr Mukut Chandra Deka, and senior medical and health officer Nagaon Urban, Dr Moon Hazarika.

Dr Moon Hazarika, in his welcome address, briefed attendees about the preparations, plans, and objectives of IMI 5.0 concerning the Nagaon Urban area. Emphasising the importance of selecting the right beneficiaries, areas, and addressing dropouts and missed-out children under the immunisation process, Dr Hazarika informed the gathering that the Head Count Survey for beneficiary detection has already commenced across the district, along with monitoring and validation. The first round of immunisation under Mission Indradhanush is scheduled to begin from August 7, 2023, until August 12, 2023, followed by the second round from September 11 to September 16, 2023, and the third round from October 9 to October 14, 2023, to cover missed or left-out children aged 0 to 5 years for their age-specific vaccines and pregnant women for immunisation.

Addressing the gathering, district immunisation officer Dr Mukut Chandra Deka stressed the need for cooperation and support from local bodies and the administration to successfully implement the IMI 5.0 programme. He urged everyone to register beneficiaries on the U-WIN portal. Nagaon Municipal Board chairperson, Ambika Mazumdar, assured the gathering of providing necessary help and cooperation, with a particular emphasis on involving ward commissioners in sensitising and assisting in the IMI 5.0 programme. The meeting was attended by other officials from the health department, as well as representatives from the District Information and Public Relations Office, Social Welfare department, and other concerned line departments.

It is noteworthy that on July 14, 2023, to strengthen the routine vaccination process and expand immunisation to cover all children in Nagaon district, the District Task Force on Intensive Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 5.0 programme held a meeting chaired by deputy commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah at the Conference Hall of the DC Office.
