GUWAHATI, Aug 9: NF Railway celebrated this year’s World Breastfeeding Week by inaugurating a breastfeeding kiosk at Rangiya railway station. The initiative was taken in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Guwahati Icons. This effort aims to provide a dedicated and secure space for female railway travellers to breastfeed their infants while ensuring their privacy.

Last year, a similar breastfeeding kiosk was established at platform no 1 of Guwahati railway station. These kiosks play a significant role in supporting mothers and their babies during their train journeys. The beautifully designed kiosk not only provides a private space for breastfeeding but also displays messages about the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits for public awareness.

In addition to the kiosk setup, an awareness program was organised at NF Railway Central Hospital in Maligaon to highlight the significance and benefits of breastfeeding. Senior doctors delivered talks on the subject, and nursing students performed skits to create awareness about breastfeeding for working parents. The event was well-attended by railway beneficiaries.

NF Railway plans to expand this initiative by constructing similar breastfeeding rooms at railway stations across the north-east region, ensuring that mothers have a comfortable and supportive environment to breastfeed their infants while traveling.
