DIBRUGARH, Aug 10: The Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh, an international women’s organisation, has taken a commendable step by installing a breastfeeding kiosk at Banipur railway station in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh.
The purpose of this initiative is to provide a comfortable and private space for mothers to breastfeed their infants while traveling through the railway station.
The installation and inauguration of the breastfeeding kiosk were carried out with great enthusiasm by the club president, Dibya Saraf, and secretary, Priyam Kasera, with the support of other club members. Their dedicated efforts have turned this initiative into a reality.
The breastfeeding kiosk has been thoughtfully designed to offer a clean and serene environment, ensuring that mothers can breastfeed their infants without any hesitation or discomfort.
During the inauguration ceremony, key members from the Railway department, the secretary of the Dibrugarh Press Club, media personnel, local authorities, and concerned individuals were present. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony by railway superintendent Srinivasan, secretary of the Dibrugarh Press Club Anil Poddar, and PDG Rotarian Kalpana Khound, signifying the club’s commitment to supporting mothers’ breastfeeding needs.
Dibya Saraf, the president of the club, expressed, “By establishing this breastfeeding kiosk, the Inner Wheel Club is actively promoting a nurturing environment that supports mothers in their breastfeeding journey.”
PDG Rotarian Kalpana Khound, after inaugurating the kiosk, remarked, “This remarkable effort by the Inner Wheel Club of Dibrugarh not only showcases their dedication to improving the lives of breastfeeding mothers but also sets an inspiring example for other communities to follow.”
Priyam Kasera, the secretary of the club, stated, “The installation and inauguration of the breastfeeding kiosk at Banipur railway station will undoubtedly contribute to making public spaces more inclusive and supportive of the needs of nursing mothers.”
