JORHAT, May 9: In a bid to enhance skills for economic independence and self-sufficiency of the women of nearby villages like Jamuguri, the Department of Fashion Design Technology of Assam Women’s University is organising a skill development workshop on Drafting, Construction and Embroidery techniques from May 9 to May 13.
The workshop was inaugurated by vice-chancellor professor Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar; registrar Tapan Kumar Gohain, and HoD(i/c) Department of Fashion Technology Dr Minakshi Dutta.
The programme was attended by the faculty members, students and the participants.
Speaking on occasion, VC prof Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar emphasised on the need for specialised knowledge and urged the participants to share their expertise during the workshop so that students could also learn from them.
She also said that Assam Women’s University would offer them the platform to develop their skills for entrepreneurship and asked the other departments like Business Administration, Information and Computer Science to offer them a session on online marketing and other similar options.
