Guwahati, Sept 30: Assam’s Inland Waterways Department has announced new schedule for the ferry services between Nimati Ghat and Kamalabari Ghat owing to shorter days.
The new timings will be implemented from October 1, reports emergend on Saturday.
According to sources, the new schedule was established due to fewer days and a drop in the Brahmaputra River’s water level. The ferry boat captains are having trouble operating on the Brahmaputra River due to the dropping water level due to which the Inland Water Transport (IWT) Department has released a new schedule.
It should be noted that the days are shorter and the nights are longer during the winter season.
