MARGHERITA, Oct 8: A five-member delegation from the All India Buddhist Forum, hailing from West Bengal, organized a gathering on Sunday at Arya Mitra Buddha Vihar in Kunwaripather, situated in Tinsukia District. The event drew a crowd of more than 500 members of the Buddhist community.

The meeting was presided over by Gyanopal Mahathera, the President of the All Assam Buddha Mahasabha. During the meeting, Sibu Talukdar, the Convenor, elaborated on the aims and objectives of the gathering.

Akash Lama, the General Secretary of the All India Buddhist Forum, stated that the primary goal of the meeting was to announce a peace rally scheduled for November 26th in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. This rally is expected to see participation from over 10 lakh members of the Buddhist community from all across the country.

Akash Lama expressed concerns about the composition of the Bodh Gaya Trust Managing Committee (BTMC), where out of nine members, only four belong to the Buddhist community. He labeled this as unjust and called upon the Buddhist community in Tinsukia District to actively participate in the peace rally on November 26th in Buddha Gaya, Bihar.
