DIPHU, Oct 11: Assam government has introduced special provisions for government job opportunities which are exclusively for the Next of Kin (NOK) of soldiers who were tragically “Killed in Action” while serving in the Army, Navy, or Air Force.
In a notification of the Governor of Assam has informed that provisions were made for providing Government job for Next of Kin (NOK) of Martyred soldiers (killed in action) from Army, Navy and Air Force in relaxation of the provision of direct recruitment prescribed in Rules prevailing in the state in respect of posts of B, C and D category which shall be applicable in respect of bonafide residents of Assam only.
The NOK (s) are to be considered for posts of B, C and D category as the case may be kept in view of their educational qualification, eligibility criteria and provisions as per recruitment rule. If one or more members of the family of a martyr soldier (killed in action) are in government service will be considered as admissible.
The request for grant of employment assistance shall be made by the NOK(s) of martyr soldiers to the concerned District Commissioner within a period of one year of death.
In case where NOK (s) is a minor, he/she will also be eligible to get the benefit as soon as he/she attains majority according to his/her qualifications.
NOK(s) application shall be forwarded by District Commissioner to Directorate of Sainik Welfare for proposal and forwarded to General Administration for getting approval from Finance Department and Personnel (A) Department for direct recruitment and relaxation of the recruitment procedure will be done after the approval.
It is also mentioned that the appointment under these instructions shall be made in the Government Department, Board, Corporation and Autonomous Bodies where posts are lying vacant and the overall procedure will be looked into by the District Commissioner of the concerned district.
