Traditional ‘Kati Bihu’ celebrated in Morigaon district

Morigaon, Oct 18: The traditional Assamese festival of ‘Kati Bihu’ was observed in a collaborative effort between the Morigaon district administration and the District Agriculture Office, Morigaon, at the picturesque Teteli Tal, situated on the banks of Charon Beel, today. In the spirit of this auspicious occasion, a meeting was organized by the District Agriculture Office and formally inaugurated by District Commissioner Devashis Sarma in the presence of various officers and local residents. The highlight of the event was the release of sky lanterns by District Commissioner Devashis Sarma at the Teteli Tal field. The program was efficiently conducted by District Agriculture Officer Ashok Kumar Sharma.

The proceedings of the event were skillfully moderated by Assistant Inspector of Agriculture Department, Dibyajyoti Hazarika. During the celebration, the District Agriculture Officer provided a comprehensive explanation of the numerous benefits of the departmental schemes, focusing on the various agricultural machinery provided under schemes like RKVY, NFSM, NMEO, and HMNEH 2023-24 to eligible beneficiary farmers. The event saw the participation of Assistant Director of Agriculture Tapan Kumar Brahma, Dr Munin Kumar Sharma, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Gautam Nath, Agricultural Development Officer, Deputy Inspector of Agriculture, Agriculture Extension Assistants, and various other dignitaries and officials. It was a vibrant celebration that brought together the agricultural community in the region to mark the significance of ‘Kati Bihu.’
