Golaghat, Oct 26: Two days post a purported suicide by a young man in Dergaon, Assam, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajen Singh paid a visit to the grieving family of Ajay Dutta on Thursday, vowing stern action against the culprits.
Under the directives of Director General of Assam Police (DGP) GP Singh, SP Singh commenced the probe into the death of Ajay and the motives behind his drastic decision.
SP Singh, extending his sympathies to the bereaved family, stated that strict action will be imposed on the guilty parties and arrangements for financial aid will be made in liaison with the district commissioner.
On Wednesday, DGP GP Singh, deeply disturbed by the news of Ajay Dutta’s suicide, instructed the Golaghat Superintendent of Police to investigate the incident and take appropriate legal action. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the mourning family and reassured Assam’s citizens of their ongoing efforts to mould the Assam Police into a more empathetic and humane force.
Ajay Dutta allegedly ended his life on Vijaya Dashami (end of Navaratri) celebrations on Tuesday, in Dolormukh village, Dergaon.
Post incident, the family filed a police complaint stating that Ajay was assaulted by a truck driver and a traffic cop following a verbal altercation between Rahul Dutta and the driver during the Vijaya Dashami celebrations.
